In the last decade SSPA has developed the Maritime System Partner Concept. The concept is based on a growing need from downsizing naval authorities (i.e. the Swedish Defence Material Administration, FMV) facing the loss of vital technical resources and competence. A Maritime System Partner (MSP) is an organisation that strengthens, for example, a ship owner/buyer or a similar authority. The MSP has a long-term relationship with the customer, is non-dependent on suppliers (e.g. shipyards), and supports the ship-owner with:
