In situ
SSPA has been studying human machine interface and human factor issues onboard ships for several years.
The projects have addressed:
- Human machine interface aspects of bridge radar, AIS and ECDIS systems
- Human factors issues in the engine control room through a systematic mapping and identification process
- Technology induced human error and other causal aspects within engineering
SSPA has also been analysing technical factors onboard for optimisation and safety purposes. Examples are: - Measuring motions and accelerations for possible route optimisation
- Reliability and quality check of AIS and radar systems
