About SSPA

Swedish SSPA is part of RISE, Research Institutes of Sweden. We combine public and commercial research and development activities and are at the forefront when it comes to develop new solutions to ensure the transformation to a sustainable and resilient maritime industry. We offer you our expertise, independent guidance and assessment within shipping and maritime operations. We provide advice and tailormade solutions on how ship owners, operators, and other stakeholders around the globe can have a more sustainable business.

The year was 1908. Leading Swedish industrialist Hugo Hammar was feeling more and more impatient. Sweden needs its own development resources, he argued. Our expanding shipbuilding industry has grown remarkably in size. We need a towing-tank!
