Wind propulsion is in the air

SSPA has hosted the event Wind Propulsion Showroom. Over 50 ship owners, operators and technology providers participated in place in Gothenburg, Sweden.

- Definitely the best wind propulsion event so far, comments Brice Robinson of Brittany Ferries. I was surprised by the high level of expertise, starting with the academic approach, and then showing examples of research gone successfully commercial. SSPA clearly has the competence for trustworthy analysis and assessment.

Following SSPA’s experts presenting the latest regarding wind-powered ships and discussions on how wind propulsion can help to improve fuel efficiency, EEXI ratings and CII values, several reputable providers of wind-propulsion technologies were presenting their systems, among those: Norsepower, Yara Marine, Alfawall Oceanbird, Anemoi and Ayro.

- Very inspirational indeed, comments Elkan Moses of TT-Line. We need a neutral, third party like SSPA to validate the fuel saving potential of wind propulsion.
