LEC Sustainable Shipping Technologies Forum 2021
Advanced propulsion and fuels, ship efficiency technologies, and green ports & infrastructure are key topics that will be covered at the LEC Sustainable Shipping Technologies Forum 2021 in April. This forum aims to foster the exchange of ideas, harness synergies, promote co-operations and network actors in the shipping sector for an emission-free future. SSPA will present the HyMethShip Zero Emission Energy Concept, an innovative system being developed in a European collaborative research project.
The LEC Sustainable Shipping Forum 2021 is a two-day online event that will include presentations and online discussions with international experts in green shipping. Martin Borgh of SSPA will present the HyMethShip concept and give an overview of how the system could be integrated and operated on a ship. SSPA is a partner in the HyMethShip project, which is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. The project aim is to develop a system for marine propulsion that is capable of reducing CO2 emissions by more than 97%, using renewable methanol as the energy carrier and implementing pre-combustion carbon capture. The system will be demonstrated onshore in Graz later this year, and the project will conclude at the end of 2021.
