Environmental impact assessment (EIA)

The need and demand for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) in coastal and marine areas are increasing as environmental awareness increases in society. The purpose of an EIA is to ensure that the environmental implications of a specific project are taken into account in the decision making process of a project. The EIA provides support for decision-making by identifying and describing the direct and indirect impact that a certain activity or project has on the environment, health, and natural resources.

The EIA should include the expected impact caused during normal operation conditions, but it is also important to consider potential impacts caused by unforeseen extreme situations, incidents, or failures.

SSPA offers qualified multidisciplinary consultant teams for carrying out complex land-based, coastal and marine related EIA projects. Our experts have extensive experience of carrying out EIA’s in Sweden as well as in developing countries.
